The sessions court refused to grant relief to the wife as she was earning way more than her husband. The wife had asked for maintenance and an increased amount for the rearing of the child. The husband had alleged the child not to be his child.

The courts had ruled that working women are entitled to maintenance. But that depends on the facts and circumstances, in the present case, she is earning annually 4 lakhs more than her husband. Hence, it will be determined on the merit of the case at hand.

The wife had registered a case of domestic violence against her husband and her in-laws. She had contended that her in-laws and her husband had forced her to move out of the house. She said that she had given birth to the baby just then. The husband was ordered to pay a monthly amount of Rs. 10,000 to the wife for rearing the child.

She stated before the court she was living with her husband when she got pregnant. Her husband was undergoing sexual dysfunction treatment but he hid it from her. When he and his family become aware of her pregnancy, they started doing her character.
